How to Merge one image with another (scarecrow exercise)

Scarecrow Barn Exercise- HOW TO

For this exercise we are going to learn how to take part of one image and add it to a separate image

1. Open the two images, the scarecrow, and the barn. These images are found in your photoshop exercises folder then in the Scarecrow folder

2. To use the Magic wand tool, set the Tolerance to about 50 under the tool settings

3. Click on the blue sky and you will see chasing ants

4. To add more blue go to the top menu and click

Select>Grow-selects more of the same area

Select>Similar- selects other blues (space between the scarecrows arm)

5. Then click Select > Inverse to invert the selection so the scarecrow is selected, not sky

6. Use the move tool to click and drag the scarecrow to the barn image(just like you do for setting up a print document, holding shift as you drag will put the scarecrow in its original spot from the first picture DRAG SHIFT DROP

7. Click the fx symbol on your scarecrow layer(same spot we clicked for making a stroke border for memes), then click inner glow

8. Set the Blend Mode to Color, Set the opacity to 50%, set the technique to  Precise, set pixels to 10

9. Click the color box and use the eye dropper to select a color from your image (a color that is similar to the edge of the scarecrow)

10. Select your background layer, in the main menu click Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur> adjust slider to slightly blur background

11. Save this file in your scarecrow folder as “scarecrowFinal”
